It is Summer Solstice today and oddly the weather has been really mild so far. We have been getting a ton of rain but the temperatures have been really reasonable for this time of year.

The lastest news is that Z and I decided it was time to call Sully's first word. He has been saying a lot of things that sound like words but we were never quite sure. Grandma said he said "Sully" but she is the only one that heard it. Rogan said he said "brother". Sometimes it sounds like he is saying "what's that?" or "All done" and course he has been saying "dada.. da" forever. But his favorite word to say over and over again  is BALL and even though the L sounds are not rolling off his tongue very well we all know exactly what he is saying. He loves balls and he is really good at catching and throwing. Seriously, he is like a baby pro ball player already. It is absolutely adorable how he says it over and over again and slowly getting a grasp on pronouncing L sounds.
I was also told that he took 5 steps at daycare this week. And I missed it! I have seen him take a step and then fall but 5 consecutive steps in a row is pretty awesome!  He has moved up to the Walker room with Gina and I guess he is trying to keep up with the bigger kids. So the world will become very different for me and him soon - very soon!
Oh my Sully...how I love thee! He is such a happy happy kid and always has a big smile on his face. He has the best laugh and he loves to be held and loved. I can't get enough of him!!!

my lord...I can't keep up. Loving being a mama but there are not enough hours in the day. Short post...
Ro is up in Delaware with his grandparents. This was a big deal for him to decide to go and I am so proud of him. Since just before Sul was born he has refused to stay even one night at their house. We have been trying to get him to so he can start to go on longer trips with his g-parents - like to the beach. After some conversation about how we would like him to go and that he needs to try it so he doesn't always have fear around it he just said ok..I'll do it! And he stood strong. Even this morning he felt some twinges of anxiety but he moved on from it quickly!

And as for Sul...he is a happy fat little baby. He loves to eat and it is so much fun feeding him!

Tooth! We have a tooth! It took forever for it to come out, but it is here. It actually arrived almost a week ago. Sully has not seemed too pissed off about it, but hard to tell sometimes with him. He likes to be held more when he isn't feeling well, but he likes to be held all the time so you know - hard to tell. So with his one little tooth he has been enjoying his puffs, cherrios, smooshed peas, and avocado. He is so much fun to feed!

Yesterday Rogan was thankful for: God, tigers, computers and bees. All in that exact order! Z and I were cracking up!!

Think I jinxed Z with my last post about how he never gets sick. He is sick in bed as I write this. Poor guy. While Zack is suffering with a head cold, the rest of us are battling pink eye. Although, we didn't get it too bad. Sully has a double ear infection and his two bottom teeth are very slowly coming in.
Time is flying by. Usually I think of this time of year as going pretty slow, but I don't seem to be able to keep on top of anything these days. Maybe because Sully is a pre-toddler. There just seems to be more stuff that needs to be done now. More clothes to wash, more dishes to wash, more toys to pick up. So I will bullet point some of the things happening in our lives right now:
  • Sully is scooting around really well now. He doesn't seem to want to crawl but kind of tucks one leg under him and sticks the other one out and uses his arms to pull himself along.
  • Sully is starting to eat some solids. Favorites are pear and sweet potato.
  • Rogan just had his 100 day party at school last week. He was really excited about it.
  • Recently, although not daily, I have been trying to get us in the habit of saying what we are thankful for before we eat dinner at the table. The first time Rogan said he was thankful for electricity and the universe And the next day he was thankful for bees and electric poles.
  • We had a little snow. Enough to do a little sledding and miss school for one day.
  • Zack has not been working Saturdays for the last three weeks and I we are loving it! Starting to work on some house projects that we haven't been able to tackle. Feels good to get stuff done. We painted our bedroom this past weekend.
  • Just did open enrollment for Rog's school next year. Very nerve-racking. God...I hope and pray we get into one of them. Would love it to be FOX!
  • Sully, Rogan and I have had numerous colds and other unpleasant germy things. It seems like one of us has something. Except for Zack - his body can fight all of this stuff off much better than ours for some reason.
  • Attempting to teach Sully some sign language, but not sure it is a going to be a group effort. I continuously forget as do Z and R, but we will keep trying.
  • Planning for Rog's birthday has started. Having at Pump It Up and he wants a dinosaur theme. Need to start working on invites ASAP!
  • Trying to find a balance with Rog and his electronics. He loves to play on his kindle, which he got from Pop Pop and Grandma for Christmas, or play on our phones or Ipad or watch TV. Has been challenging to limit all of this - especially when we are so tired! :)

Sully is getting big! He is starting to scoot himself across the floor a bit and possibly starting to wave. Still working on the sleeping thing though. He is crying in his crib as I write this. So hard to not go in to  soothe him, but he needs to learn to do that for himself. Yesterday was so much easier than today. Ugh - hopefully will get easier soon.

Thought I would write up two of Rogan's comments from his preschool teacher. Thought they were cute:
1/9/13
My day was....great! Rogan was so enthusiastic and great at learning ABC signs with Frances - and he got to practice more when she got to sit with us at lunch! He's awesome at it! He also worked so hard on his art project and listened so well today!

1/10/13
My day was...great! Rogan loves music class with Mrs. Judy and gets such a kick out of it - I love seeing it! Rogan did an awesome job on all his work today and worked hard, which is most important!

Hopefully this weekend we will finally get a chance to start teaching Sully some sign language.

Ahhh...he finally fell asleep!

Here are some pictures from our trip to Ohio. We had fun in the snow!!!
